The Original Wax dated "1853" was presented for the first time, at the Universal Exhibition (Paris) of 1855 (wax n° 4492: Dogs terriers). In her will of January 14, 1896, Julie Mene-Cain, asks her children to bequeath to the Louvre Museum, the original wax of this model: "First of all, my husband's will and mine is that my sons Georges and Henri offer to the Louvre Museum the two waxes of my excellent father , namely Group of Arabian Horses and Group of Dogs at the Burrow. I hope that they will be well received , otherwise my sons will be judges and what they will do will be well done". The reception was favorable since the Don was accepted on July 15, 1898 .
