"Coffee Pot And Its Porcelain Display With Floral Decor - China Eighteenth Period Qianlong"
Porcelain coffee pot and its hexagonal display stand with floral decoration in shades of mauve, pink and violet, the decorations have been gilded. These shades are not very common, and are found on commissioned pieces in particular. They are a change from the more classic pink found on "classic" porcelain pieces from the Compagnie des Indes. The way in which the flowers were painted was also less typical of the rigid and conventional flower designs common under Qianlong. This decoration is known as "Puce and Gilt", and its English character better reflects what it is. The lid of the coffee pot has bright pink flowers in relief (missing).
