In 1945, on the death of his father, Marc Lalique took over the reins of the Lalique company.
He used his technical knowledge to renovate and modernise the factory in Wingen-sur-Moder.
Lalique quickly established itself as one of the leading crystal manufacturers in France and abroad, and the contrast between transparency and satin-finish characteristic of the brand became famous the world over.
Marc Lalique's most famous works include the Ange glass, which reproduces the motif of the smiling angel in Reims cathedral, in a nod to the Lalique family's origins, and the bottle for the famous perfume L'Air du Temps, for Nina Ricci.
He died in 1977, leaving the reins of the Lalique crystal works to his daughter Marie-Claude.
