Juan Le Parc Born In 1960 in Paris: "kajikoa I" 2015; Draw 1/9 N°1. Photographic print, size: 50 x 50 cm. Signed, dated and numbered on the back. Born in 1960 in Paris, Juan Le Parc has been working for several years on forms of representation of the human body by combining artistic and scientific practices in his approach. By taking anthropological-type bodily modifications and mixing them with scientific imagery, he creates plastic universes filled with hybrid, chimerical beings from mythical imaginations. He deploys an artistic teratology based on an aesthetic of monstrosity that allows him to dissect the ideological contradictions that underlie the unequivocal discourses on the perfection of the contemporary human body. He tries to provide an alternative to medically assisted procreation by proposing assisted procreation by the imagination, inspired by fertility myths and erotic rites. He is co-founder of the “Laboratoire des Arts Cognitifs” and of the urban intervention theater company “Conspiration Publique” with which he creates strange multimedia shows on the human body and its bodily and psychic modifications such as Chaosmose or Suspension Cube. He is developing the “Pangea” project consisting of setting up a device on the web to collectively create a human constellation spread over the five continents. He regularly works with medical and scientific institutions on projects dealing with issues of art and science. He is currently developing stage, sound and visual works on human-machine interfaces in real time such as Copy/Conform, Copy/Difform or Dromopole. (Artjaws)
