"Large And Very Beautiful Louis XVth Century Oak Wing Frame Carved In Golden Leaf Barrette,"
A very beautiful piece, this large Louis XV period frame (mid-18th century) with carved oak ears assembled in bars with its two patinated iron rings for hanging it. Gilded with the original leaf where we see appearing below the red of the fuschine which gives it richness and transparency, the glaze of the beautiful gilding applied with rabbit skin glue then lapped with agathe. An imposing piece in good condition with its Bérain foliage and its angled ears punctuated by cartridges of the same nature at mid-distance. With a pretty profile and richly ornamented, this pretty frame is ready to receive a work in length or height (portrait for example, which must have been the case), a real beautiful piece dazzling with reflections of the past.
