"Oscar Di Prata (brescia, 1910-2006) In Myth And Legend"
Oscar Di Prata (1910-2006), In myth and legend, oil on canvas, 80x60 cm;
Signed lower right

Provenance: Bergamo, private collection

After his art studies in Venice, the young painter followed a line of action linked to the avant-gardes of the period, drawing initially on the painful experiences he lived during the war, which were also very significant for his inspiration later on. He loves to travel a lot and in Paris he met De Chirico; later the exponents of Italian futurist currents such as Carrà, with whom he participated in an exhibition. His creativity spans all periods of life: from the red beaches of blood shed in the dark years of conflict, to the meditative shadows of the metaphysical period where it is time that suggests reflections. All with constant references to a mystical religiosity, made up of purple cardinals, crucifixions and resurrections, but also of naked bodies and suffering and awkward animals that silently observe the scenes.
