Interesting oil on canvas from the end of the 18th century beginning of the 19th century representing the head of Saint John the Baptist after his beheading and presented in a dish.
the canvas was mounted at the beginning of the 20th century on a panel with some restorations on the edge of the canvas around the head of the saint.
the old and original blackened wooden tondo frame serves as an offering dish, that is to say the dish on which the head of the saint was presented to Salome and Herod.
a very interesting and more common composition in the 17th century.
