His furniture is often similar to that of Demoulin Jean Baptiste Courte is from Meidelsen, Germany, where his father was a carpenter and most likely a Protestant. His name Kurt was Frenchified in Courte. After his master's degree in 1777, he had to pay the sum of 15 pounds for the right to "habit and open the profession". He then practiced in Dijon, rue Charrue, then rue Piron. He married the daughter of the cabinetmaker Philippe Sesseley, and thanks to him, he perfected himself in the trade. He will have two children, Pierre and Antoine, as well as two nephews, Jean and Nicolas, themselves cabinetmakers, but it is not a dynasty like the Demoulin family. According to Catherine Gras, the furniture he produces is often similar to that of his colleague from Dijon, Jean Demoulin, without it being possible to know if they worked in collaboration. He stamped COURTE on the edge of a chest of drawers or on the outer edges of drawers near the locks. Quality Furniture from the Louis XVI Period, 18th Century, Circa 1780.
