After studying law, he ended up enrolling in the Julian Academy. Attracted by the impressionists, his paintings are bathed in a colorful atmosphere and soft light and an innate sense of poetry.

He exhibits at the Salon of French Artists from 1880. Not being appreciated enough in Paris, he decides to settle in Saint-Tropez where he leads a life without material worries as a winery owner.
During the interwar period, he appeared again in Parisian exhibitions from 1924 to 1935. These works are kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and at the Musée de L'Annonciade in Saint-Tropez.
