Superb teapot jug in solid silver, Empire period. (1810) With a beautiful compact and ovoid shape, the plain body flanked on each side by a decoration of appliques, fruits, vines and leaves, it poses on a discreet piedouche scalloped with a gadroon braid. The friezes of the upper part of which those of the lids are, as for them. decorated with water leaves; a great delicacy of engraving has been granted thus emphasizing the contrast with the sobriety of the body of the teapot. The gooseneck spout is finely chiseled. The console handle is set in two hoods, one with discs decorated with rosettes, the other, at its base, united. The flat lid supports a frill representing a hybrid animal with a ram's head, scaled sides, winged. Silversmith's hallmark on body and lid as well as 1st title rooster hallmark (950). Excellent conditions, for this magnificent teapot with a patina that a very careful manual maintenance has preserved. Micro-scratches from use, no knocks or bumps. A rare and interesting model of perfect elegance and very high quality. a gem...the gooseneck spout still worked in the spirit of those of the 18th century.
