Saint Georges de Didonne attracted many painters from the end of the 19th century until the 1930s. Jean-Georges Pasquet was a fervent follower of the places, mainly in summer where he will carry out works during more than twenty years. He captures views of the port of Saint Georges, of the beach, in the rocks of Vallières, or even in the land and forests nearby.
This is a view located inland and representing a path in the undergrowth along a pond. This summer painting of strong light crossing the foliage leads to a clearing treated by Pasquet in purple tones that he particularly appreciates.
