"Eugène Antoine Guillon: Portrait Of The Viscount Of M. De L., Drawing"
In the 1880s, the publication of the illustrated catalog of the SAF required artists to send a drawing of the painting they wanted to exhibit, so that an engraver could transfer this drawing to the catalog. The drawing presented is autograph executed by the painter from his painting. Eugène Antoine Guillon, pupil of H. Flandrin and Laurent Detouche, exhibited at the Salon de la SAF from 1861 to 1914. The drawing is signed on the chest on the right, annotated on the lower margin M le Vicomte de M de L. Plume with slight highlights of white gouache. The portrait has been cut out and reimposed on an inked background.
