"William Henry Lippincott: Portrait Of Harvard C., Drawing"
In the 1880s, the publication of the illustrated catalog of the SAF required artists to send a drawing of the painting they wanted to exhibit, so that an engraver could transfer this drawing to the catalog. The drawing presented is autograph executed by the painter from his painting. Lippincott was a pupil of Bonnat in Paris and exhibited at the Salon of 1880. The drawing is monogrammed lower right and the child represented Harward C is intriguing among other things because of the crowned coat of arms with 3 fleur-de-lys which is at the top right. left of the drawing.
