Harp "N'gombie" Punu or related group. Gabon. Hardwood and skin, iron, patina of use: H: 65 cm Classically shaped harp, the body, surmounted by a pretty head with a bleached face, is painted alternately in red ocher and white.
An instrument of the chordophone family, the ngombi is an arched harp used by the people of Gabon in bwiti ceremonies (pronounced beti) and in the cult of spirits and possession in feminine societies.
