A Boxwood Netsuke Of An Articulated Lotus Flower flag

Object description :

"A Boxwood Netsuke Of An Articulated Lotus Flower"
A Japanese boxwood netsuke depicting a lotus flower.

The lotus is a symbol of purity and rebirth, as the flower emerges immaculate from the mud of the lakes. The choice to make the flower articulated, with some pistils free to move, adds a refined detail that further increases the veracity of this small sculpture.

The top stem of the articulated lotus flower forms the himotoshi.
