"Mahogany Tambour Table, Maison Lalande, Louis XVI Style - Late 19th Century"
Drum table on all sides, in solid and veneered mahogany, topped with a recessed turquin de Caunes marble. It is stamped "Maison Lalande Colosiez & Compagnie Successeurs - 34, rue de Charenton, Paris". The belt offers a chiselled ring drawer. It is inlaid with small diamonds, underlined with molded strips, and decorated with two bronze motifs. This table also opens with a door, in marquetry identical to that described above, with a flowerbed panel. The interior is fully enamelled. The sides and back of the cabinet are made in the same spirit. The four pilasters are rudenté and garnished with bronze asparagus. The set rests on four massive feet, turned in a sheath, decorated with gadrooned rings and rosettes, and ending in hooves. This base has, in the lower part, a slightly concave tablet. This small tambour table will appeal in particular for its small size and the recognized quality of the Lalande house. ******** Period: Late 19th century Excellent condition.
