He created, with his brother Ernest, “Le Verre français” or “Verreries Schneider”, a company founded in 1913 in Epinay-sur-Seine. Over time, the company became more and more successful until it had 500 employees under its wing in 1925, and sold their works all over the world. It was in 1929, at the start of the Great Depression, that the company became unstable, and fell a few years later. “Charder: French Glass” is their trademark. It will be the largest glassworks in Europe in the years 1920-1930. Charles Schneider signs his family name on the most expensive and elaborate works, or "Charder" on those that meet strong market demand, especially in the United States and Argentina, which will become the first importers of "French Glass". ". The latter develops during an artistic period called Art Deco. This movement was born following the First World War, aiming to forget its horrors. A rich and luxurious society appears, in search of furniture and works of art. The success of these two brothers comes first of all from their style, which developed during the Art Deco period which influences their neat, colored glass (yellow, mauve, orange). Their glass is therefore modern, inspired by the artistic movements of the moment, cubism, futurism, through colors and lights. The glass factory manufactures its own raw materials, unlike its competitors (Gallé, Daum, etc.) who buy them. The Schneider brothers keep, unlike the others, an artisanal production: each piece remains unique and keeps track of the worker. Charles Schneider remains the main character of the company: his brother is the manager.
