Dimensions: Without frame 47x27 cm With frame 62x42 cm Born in 1900 in the Rhineland, Arno Breker trained at the Beaux-Arts in Düsseldorf. In 1926, he moved to Paris and frequented the artists of Montparnasse. His style of sculpture, initially expressionist, is influenced by Maillol, Rodin and Despiau. After his return to Berlin in the early 1930s, his work evolved towards a neoclassicism inspired by antique statues. He is spotted by the regime, which finds in his work the aesthetic canons of the Third Reich, celebrating the strong Aryan man. The National Socialist regime gave him several monumental orders, such as massive statues in front of the new chancellery or sculptures for the Olympic stadium in Berlin.
