"Pair Of Louis XVI Style Candelabra Lamps In Gilt Bronze And Turquin Marble, XIXth"
Superb pair of candelabras mounted as Louis XVI style lamps in gilt bronze and turquin blue marble. Very nice size, 55.5 cm for the bronze and 91.5 cm with the lampshade, these lamps are extremely decorative. On a tripod base in turquin blue marble, powerful hocks and hooves of goats carry the barrel chiseled with acanthus leaves and garlands of foliage from which spring the 3 arms of light chiseled with acanthus and fruit. Above, the base of an urn with 3 rams' heads and at the top a basket of flowers. The bronze carving work is of very high quality, with a solid and very heavy bronze deeply chiselled in a very realistic way. The original gilding is of very good quality with some stains in places. The flower basket at the top was originally to receive a candlestick, but it has been adapted to electricity, the electrical system is new, lampshades in pleated fabric. Very good original condition, only, on each candelabra, a rectangular plate of the base replaced. The quality of the chasing, the gilding, the main harmony emerging from the whole but also the assembly of the binets and cups with markings with the stylus and the threaded rod used allows us to date them from the end of the 18th century, or from the beginning of the 19th century. Work similar to the great bronzers of the time such as Gouthière, Rémond, Feuchère... These candelabras are quite heavy, between 10 and 15 kg each. Delivery by carrier, 80 euros in France, 200 euros in the EU and 600 euros rest of the world.
