"17th Century Spanish Walnut And Leather Armchair."
This "furrow frailero" or high-rise monk's chair (143.5cm) rests on four square section legs. The two rear legs end with acanthus leaves at their top. The armrests are flat and chamfered on the outside, they rest on turned baluster consoles. The front crosspiece is a scalloped headband carved with a plant motif. The rear crosspiece and the two sides are cut out but not sculpted. The leathers are quite worn, they are fixed by large brass nails. Usual restorations have been carried out.
