Hermann von Kaulbach is the son of the painter Wilhelm von Kaulbach. He follows the teaching of Carl von Piloty in Munich. He attaches himself to the precision of the details and the realism of his historical scenes which make him meet with success in the movement of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
