Large portrait of Joseph Sieyes under the first Empire.
Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès was a French clergyman, politician and essayist known for his writings and action during the French Revolution. He was notably a member of the Third Estate and then of the National Convention, President of the Council of Five Hundred, Director of the Republic, President of the Conservative Senate, Consul of the Republic and Count of the Empire.
French school of the early 19th century.
This representation is quite close to that of David painted in 1817.
