"A Kurdish Jambiya"
This is a mid 19th century dagger from north Iraq, a region populated by Kurdish people. It show a mixed Turkish / Iraqi influence. The 18cm wootz blade is curved, double edged with a central rib. The handle is I shaped, and made from water buffalo horn. The silver scabbard is decorated with flower patterns and boarded with a band small Turquoise stones. Total sheathed length is 35cm. Very good condition. Minor gold loss and a small stress line in the base of the handle.
