Beautiful luminous work by the Marseille painter Joseph Garibaldi which represents a view of the plain of Arles animated by horses.
During this period, the artist produced several views of the Arles region, in particular a view of the Abbey of Montmajour.
The artist used a warm color palette to show the power of the sun in summer.
Pupil of Antoine Vollon in Marseille, Joseph Garibaldi exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1884 to 1926 where he was very successful and won several awards. He also attends the exhibitions of the Association of Marseille Artists.
He painted views of the shores of the Marseille region, notably Cassis, where his friend the painter Marius Guindon attracted him. His specialty remains the views of the old port of Marseille with its lively quays.
Nb: An old restoration is to be reported in the sky.
Dimensions: 65 x 92 cm without its frame and 83 x 110 cm with its modern gilded wooden frame.
