Jewelry Box - Box In Straw Marquetry Imitating The Micromosaic. 19th Folk Art
Charming little box in straw marquetry, moving popular work from the end of the 19th century.
The box is square, the edges slightly wavy. It is entirely decorated with geometric patterns in small straw marquetry imitating the micromosaic.
The lid is decorated in the center with a bouquet of flowers in a hexagon.
A cartouche with the word "memory" indicates that these boxes were offered by the loved one or by a close friend to remember the other during a separation.
The very fine marquetry, the slightly scalloped shape of the box make it a quality object.
17.5 cm side
6.2cm tall
Good condition. Some lack of straw, especially at the corners.
