Pair of candlesticks in chased bronze gilded with mercury, late Louis XVI period - early Empire around 1800-1810, attributable to Claude GALLE. This model is distinguished by their great sobriety as well as an excellent quality of execution. Base with small laurel leaves, was fluted in quiver. Bobèche in the shape of a ball. Claude Galle (1759-1815), bronzier and foundry-chaser, received master in 1786 and active rue Vivienne, provided the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne under Louis XVI but also and above all under the Empire.
