Antique fan. The leaf is in skin, it is painted in gouache with a magnificent scene where eight nymphs (or Dryads), wearing a crown of flowers, play music at the foot of a tree. In the center one of them holds a mask in her hand. It is signed L.Lamotte lower left. Exceptional engraved mother-of-pearl frame. The frame is in perfect condition, some wear on the leaf and stain on the back of it. Rhine stone rivet, bail. The fan measures 11,22 inches closed and 20,86 inches in diameter open. Circa 1880.
