- Important two-flight staircase model in sipo (exotic wood). This companion masterpiece presents two flights in a semicircle (in a horseshoe) of fifteen steps each which meet at a central landing. The bodyguards consist of a molded handrail to which are attached offset balusters whose curves gracefully accompany the curved lines of the two staircases.
-This work surprises with its set of curves and its perfect symmetry; seen from the front, the width of the two staircases seems to diminish to the point that the two stringers merge to become a simple line ordered by the flatness of the landing.
-The space in the center under the central landing has been skilfully invested by the journeyman carpenter who, thanks to sloping sides and a rounded shape, reveals an architectural niche. This element, highlighted by a small platform, establishes a depth that plays with shadows underline.
- The semi-circular shape of the staircase, like a hemicycle, invites us to continue the observation on the reverse which is not outdone. We then discover a marvel of simplicity and elegance; a wall soberly decorated with molded panels. This setback gives the structure the appearance of an amphitheater, encouraging us to (re)discover the technical demonstration that takes place on the other side. On the central panel, at the bottom, is affixed the mark of the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France obtained by the companion (in the center and on a blue enamel background, a figure standing and in profile holds a compass with the motto “Joie – travail – technical education to the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France”.
- "Associating the head and the hands to tame the material and overcome the technical difficulties without it appearing", such was the challenge of such masterpieces. These miniature works have the particularity of being works made by companions. Also, they had to highlight their mastery of the trade, their creativity to be recognized by their peers. Technically perfect and aesthetically pleasing, each masterpiece is an assiduous quest for perfection. It is a heap of difficulties overcome thanks to an important work of preliminary studies and an intelligence at your fingertips. A privileged tool for contact with reality, the hand then nourishes thought which in turn guides it to transform matter and give substance to ideas conceived by the mind.
- The exceptional character of this work earned its author, the companion Albert Mazaudier to be rewarded with a medal which was awarded to him in 1928 by the "General Confederation of French Crafts" created in 1922. This medal is attached at work.
