"Ignacy Hirschfang : "polish Snowy Landscape""
Ignacy Hirschfang (1895-1943): “Snowy Polish landscape”, oil on double-sided panel 54 X 65 cm, mounted in a good period frame in carved and gilded wood 70 X 81 cm. Signed and dated 1930. The oil works of Hirschfang (which some spell Hirszfang) are extremely rare, the Artist, a Polish Jew who died prematurely in deportation, having devoted himself more to watercolors, but if the we find there his very particular style, it is on the other hand exacerbated there... Beneath an apparent false naivety, the more we look at this painting and the more we discover subtlety and intelligence of touch. The work does not reveal itself at first glance, but is enriched with our gaze. Another painting on the back (more Byzantine nativity).
