Maxime Lalanne French painter, born November 27, 1827 in Bordeaux. Died in Nogent sur Marne on July 29, 1886. Painter of landscapes, seascapes, still lifes. Draftsman, fusinist and engraver. Pupil of Gigoux, he made a remarkable place for himself among the original draftsmen and engravers. He began at the Salon of 1852 and exhibited regularly until 1880, especially etchings and charcoals. Two medals were awarded to him in 1873 and 18874 and he was decorated in 1875. He exhibited and was also medalist in Vienna and Philadelphia. After a long period of indifference, his forte are now sought after. He engraved the picturesque scenes of Paris, Bordeaux, London, Switzerland. He was one of the promoters of the revival of etching in the 1860s. Many of his engravings and drawings can be found in several museums.
