Louis XVI Style dressing table in diamond marquetry and Chinese scene marquetry In mahogany and various species of veneers circa 1880 Richly embellished with gilded bronze (all the bronzes are screwed) It opens with three drawers in front and three shutters revealing a mirror in the center. The side shelves fold out and the central drawer opens with a push button It rests on four feet in sheaths ending in bronze shoes Varnished with a stamp In very good condition Foundry mark PB on the bronzes Attributed to Maison Beurdeley, the one of the most important dynasties of furniture manufacturers in the 19th century (1818-1895), particularly appreciated for the quality of their bronze mounts and the choice of precious materials for the ornament of their pieces of furniture. Directly inspired by a model by the cabinetmaker Jean-Henri Riesener, executed in 1784 for the interior cabinet of Marie-Antoinette's small apartment at the Tuileries, and which is kept in the Louvre Museum.
