"Jean-paul Dordet - Ivory Appetizer Service, Vermeillé Sterling Silver. Paris 1819-1838"
Appetizer service in ivory and solid silver, of great elegance. It offers four pieces including two shovels, one of which is beautifully openworked with foliage, a trident fork and a spoon pierced with tulips and teardrops delicately organized around a central rosette. The quality and density of the period vermeil on this superb set must be underlined, necessary on all refined tables, serving foie gras, pâté, caviar, olives and other small appetizers. The ivory of the handles, finely chiselled, bears its natural cracks and irregular colors due to age. The four pieces are in excellent used condition and seem to have had little use. Discreet monogram on each of them. Hallmark called "au Vieillard" (Michelangelo) 1st title for Paris 1819-1838 and Minerve 950. Hallmark of the silversmith also on each of the pieces.
