"Iron Tsuba Cut With Dragons In The Namban Style. Detail Nunome-zogan.japan Edo 17th Century."
Cut iron tsuba. Decor of dragons and sacred pearls. Inside the beads, tiny iron balls are movable. The style is called Namban. This kind of tsuba is little represented without however being rare. But the model presented here is exceptionally of excellent quality. Indeed the blacksmith cut his tsuba in an excessively fine way like an iron lace. We do not know of a model with such fine wires cut at the extreme limit of the stresses of the metal. The photos do not show the fineness of the cut. The delicacy of this tsuba, its lightness and its small size lead us to think that it was created for a woman's weapon. Japan early Edo around 1700. Dimensions: 65x2mm Good condition.
