Maison Cartier, Silver Tea Service, Twentieth

Comprising a teapot, a sugar bowl and a milk jug. Guilloche decor with medals, pearl friezes, spinning tops and claw feet. Pb total: 708 gr. Hallmark hallmark. Signed below two pieces: Cartier, 9 bd des Italiens Irregularities below the milk jug, see image. Very good general condition. Late 19th century, early 20th century. Teapot: H: 17 cm / W: 20 cm / D: 12.5 cm Milk jug: H: 10 cm / W: 10 cm / D: 7 cm Sugar bowl: H: 12.5 cm / W 13.5 cm / D: 11 cm — The story begins in 1847 when Louis-François Cartier (1819-1904) takes over the studio of Adolphe Picard, located at 29 rue Montorgueil. His son Alfred (1841-1925) joined the family business in 1859, the year the Cartier boutique was transferred to 9, boulevard des Italiens.
