This small box whose body is in smoked crystal is of octagonal section, the base and the lid are with cut sides.
The lid is hinged with a molded gold-plated solid silver mount.
The very geometric cut sides of the crystal and the rectilinear moldings of the frame are typical of the Art Deco style.
The frame is hallmarked:
. Boar's head for solid French silver
. Goldsmith hallmark: GB with a fleur-de-lys for Gaston Bardiès, active between 1897 and 1914.
Superb box of very good quality, the vermeil frame is thick and perfectly adjusted, the smoked crystal gives it a vintage look, very innovative for the time.
