Emile Joseph Patoux (1893-1985)
The painter Emile Joseph Patoux belongs to the groups of Belgian neo-impressionist painters.
He studied at the academies of Nivelles, Brussels and The Hague. Painter and architect, he is professor and director of the Academy of Watermael-Boitsfort. He creates realistic portraits, nudes and landscapes with fresh and clear colors, imbued with a joyful atmosphere. In the 1920s, he adopted a divisionist technique of impressionist character. He is the author of stained glass cartons and paintings for the decoration of buildings of Brussels Maritime, as well as the ornamentation of the palace of Tervuren.
