Chased and polychromed brass lassi glass. Red and black. From northern India, Punjab region, 19th century. Lassi is a traditional drink made from fermented milk, and is one of the staple foods of the Punjab region.
The term "lassi" is derived from the Sanskrit word lasika (लसिका) which means "serous" or resembling saliva.(1)
