"Virgin And Child"
This
Virgin and Child of great finesse of execution dates from the very end of the 17th century or the beginning of the 18th century. This is a very fine quality old copy of an original by Carlo Dolci kept in the Palazzo Corsini in Rome. Carlo Dolci is a Florentine painter, active in the second half of the 17th century, an extremely pious artist, he devoted himself exclusively to religious painting. He left a relatively small number of paintings, all of which emanate this deep piety and this very characteristic gentleness that we find remarkably restored in this
Virgin and Child painted by this skilful follower of Dolci.
We must point out that the canvas had suffered a tear which was very skilfully restored; invisible today, it in no way alters the exceptional quality of this work of devotion.
An old posterior frame brings an additional refinement to this painting by the skill of the carved wood work.
