Elegant Spanish lady accompanied by her dog in the vicinity of Malaga. Here, a Special technique mixing watercolour, oils and charcoal has been applied with great skill. The hands and the face are the very expression of a great mastery of this technique particular to this artist who has an undeniable admiration for the Iberian Peninsula.
Emile Gastemans was born in Antwerp in 1883. Died in 1956. He was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp but learned mostly self-taught in books and museums. He animated the artistic group: "Als ik kan" (If I can or as I can) He traveled a lot and brought back many exotic scenes. (Benezit)
