Elegant Spanish lady accompanied by her dog in the vicinity of Malaga. Here, a Special technique mixing watercolour, oils and charcoal has been applied with great skill. The hands and the face are the very expression of a great mastery of this technique particular to this artist who has an undeniable admiration for the Iberian Peninsula.Emile Gastemans was born in Antwerp in 1883. Died in 1956. He was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp but learned mostly self-taught in books and museums. He animated the artistic group: "Als ik kan" (If I can or as I can) He traveled a lot and brought back many exotic scenes. (Benezit)
