Carrara marble bust signed A.Gory (1886-1925) representing a moving faun on a pink and white marble pedestal. Affortunato Gory (1986-1925) is an Italian sculptor active until 1925, when he died in Paris. Originally from Florence, he studied sculpture at the Academy of Florence, under the direction of Auguste Rivalta. Gory, like many Italian artists, emigrated to Paris at the beginning of the 20th century to practice his art there. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in 1902 with a bust of a woman in bronze and marble. He presented his works there until 1923.
