Object description :

"Exceptional Aubusson Verdure Tapestry 18th Century - 370x315, N° 904"
A Tapestry of greenery or simply a greenery is, in the language of the tapestry, a hanging whose decoration is mainly vegetal (like trees, foliage, etc...) Animals, currents, exotic or fantastic, can populate this setting: birds and forest animals. The hunting scenes, despite the important plant decoration, do not fall into the category of greenery. The Green Tapestry was very popular at the end of the Middle Ages and still in the 16th century. The greenery was woven in many workshops in Flanders as in the city of Audenarde in Belgium or in Aubusson in France where we find the manufacture Royal d'Aubusson which has woven the most famous tapestries in the world.
