"Small Impressionist Marine By Armand Jamar 1913"
Superb small Impressionist oval Marine by Armand Jamar. Provenance friend of the artist. In 1900, Armand Jamar had his first exhibition in Liège and, in 1904, he moved to Schaerbeek where he occupied the former studio of Constantin Meunier1. He also participated regularly in the exhibitions of the Salon des artistes français, where he received an honorable mention in 1904 and finally the gold medal in 19072. He also participated in the Salons of Brussels (1910), Antwerp and Ghent. In 1921, he gave an individual exhibition in Brussels at the Cercle Artistique et Littéraire. He traveled extensively in Europe, North Africa and the United States. Like many of Évariste Carpentier's students at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, Armand Jamar was sent to the Limburg Campine near Genk on his advice. He was also fascinated by the coasts of the North Sea, notably in Zeebrugge, Brittany and Zeeland1.
Armand Jamar was named Knight of the Order of Leopold3. Another honor: that of the issue of a postage stamp, measurements with frame 30cm by 41.5cm
