Georges Hildebrand is the son of a painter, most certainly professional if we are to believe the number of works that Hermann-Berthold Hildebrand exhibited at the various Bordeaux salons from 1876 to 1926, the year of his death. This man from Strasbourg had for son Georges, future president of the Atelier association, which ran an annual show of the same name, in Bordeaux. Only the inhabitants of the city could be part of this association. Father and son create works on all media representing landscapes, or still lifes. Many pieces are located by the sea to the west of Bordeaux, but others are made more inland.
The archives remain silent on this family of artists who only ask to be rediscovered, by the quality of their works.
Georges Hildebrand achieves this sunny view of the village of Beynac in the Dordogne on a spring day. The point of view is very unusual since for once, the work is not carried out with the Dordogne in the foreground, but this time from inside the village. Less impressive in this axis, the feudal residence is softened, helped by the light colors used by the painter.
