Old Book: Barba – Treatise On Metal Art 1730 Rare [esotericism & Alchemy]

Chez Saugrain Père in Paris, 1730 – A very fine copy of this extremely rare treatise on alchemy, the work is “extracted from the works of Alvare-Alfonse Barba, a famous artist in the mines of Potozi, to whom we have attached a memoir concerning the mines of France; with a Tariff which shows the operations which it would be necessary to make to draw from these mines the gold and the silver which the Romans drew from them when they were masters of Gaul.
Bound in full contemporary calfskin, spine with 5 raised bands with richly decorated boxes, title label in red morocco, small gaps in crowns and two corners, not serious. Very fresh interior in good condition, very complete with 7 folding plates including the frontispiece, the preface, table of contents and privilege of the king (which is missing from many copies), a partial tear of the frontispiece plate, without lack.
Book "rare and sought containing very curious precepts of hermeticism and data on metallic art. The publisher of this book Hautin de Villars, was a very skilful transmuter". (Caillet). In-12, 264p + table + privilege.
