Biography :
Born in January 1918 in Nîmes, Jean Roudil enters the School of Fine Arts in this city very early, he will obtain several prizes there and will complete his training with a diploma in Lithography at the Technical School of Nîmes.
He specializes, after a brief experience teaching drawing in Lyon - as the creator of an advertising agency in Paris, in 1947.
His clients were Parisian stores such as Printemps, Nouvelles Galeries, La Samaritaine, Bon Marché, but also Manufrance and Quelle, for which he produced catalogs and posters.
He was entrusted with the launch of several advertising campaigns for clients such as Mobil Oil, Simca, Jacob Delafon, Europe 1, 33 export.
In retirement, he will take advantage of his travels - both inside and as an accomplished visitor - to enrich his palette of colors and materials.
Fascinated by the interplay of ink and water, he gave birth under his hand to women with languid and sometimes surprising shapes, familiar landscapes with constantly changing reflections.
The series taking up at will the lighthouse of Grau du Roi or the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes and the Tower of Constance testify to his attention to the passage of time.In love with Venice, but also with Paris, where he spent most of his life and his professional career, he gives his vision of undeniable originality.
Jean Roudil offered to all those who discovered him through his many exhibitions, the generosity of his gaze and the modernity of his line, well beyond his death in December 2005.
