Magnificent Pair of screens with six leaves decorated in ink and colors on a background of gold leaf. Paintings of Chinese scholars, women and children, in a rocky landscape, having tea under a blossoming cherry tree and flying cranes on one. On the other, scholars displaying paintings and calligraphy, seated at a table playing go, while two others play music. Black lacquered wooden frame adorned with golden brass nails. Golden brass protective corner fittings. The Byöbu, translation of the Japanese "wind wall", are screens generally composed of six panels which were used in traditional Japanese houses as decorations or partitions for ceremonies and dances.
