"Old Aviation, World War Biplane, Three Box Silver Enamel To Décor Aircraft, Cigarettes Cases, Snuffbox, Business Card Case, Louis Kuppenheim"
Exceptional set of three enamelled silver cases or boxes, the work of the famous German silversmith Louis Kuppenheim. This renowned silversmith notably worked for Cartier and Boucheron.
* Each piece bears the goldsmith's hallmark.
Early 20th Century

Here we present three sumptuous silver cigarette cases, card cases and snuffboxes, the flap lids of which are decorated with enamel-painted landscapes, airfields or aviation camps, where you can admire vintage biplane aircraft in flight, including a beautiful large twin-engine aircraft that connoisseurs are sure to recognise.
Goldsmith's decorations of this type are very rare, and we can imagine that this set was probably commissioned by an aviator who wanted to treat himself to this beautiful set of objects directly linked to his passion for aviation.
You will notice that these cases are in very good condition, with no dents or chips in the enamel. There are just a few tiny scratches in the enamel, visible against the light if you look closely, but really nothing!
These three cases are made of silver 900/000 and bear German hallmarks in addition to the goldsmith's hallmark.
Total weight of the three objects: 636 g

Short biography: Louis Kuppenheim founded his workshop with Heinrich Witzemann in 1854 in Pforzheim, Germany. Three years later, he decided to continue working on his own under the name "Louis Kuppenheim", and became a gold and silver box maker, a goldsmith of great renown in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. In view of the quality of his work, during his career Kuppenheim was called upon by major houses such as Cartier and Boucheron, for whom he produced pieces for the very highest luxury. His workshop focused mainly on small objects, such as smokers' items, desks and vanity sets. At its peak, the company employed over 200 craftsmen in its Pforzheim factories and, in addition to its Paris shop, had a thriving export business.
The high quality of Kuppenheim work was recognised and rewarded with a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900.
However, as the Kuppenheims were of Jewish origin, after 1933 their business declined and increasing Nazi persecution led to the closure of the company.
