"Monstrance, 1831-68, Sterling Silver, Belgium"
Grand monstrance-sun baroque style in solid silver. It dates from the middle of the nineteenth century but is very faithfully inspired by the great baroque monstrances of the end of the seventeenth century or the beginning of the eighteenth century. It can be dismantled into innumerable parts to facilitate cleaning and still has its lunula to fix the Holy Sacrament. The circumference of the Blessed Sacrament is set with "rose" cut stones which come from older jewels, offered to garnish the monstrance by generous believers as was often the case. The are party Diamondbacks , party White sapphires or other semiprecious stones .The monstrance is hallmarked with Belgian guarantee hallmarks from the period 1831-68 for 833% silver. It is in excellent condition. It measures an impressive 60 cm high.
