"Paperolles (pair Of) Framed"
Pair of framed paperolles with oval view, religious subjects, late 19th century period. One, represents the chalice surrounded by symbolic branches of wheat and vines, under the base a handwritten legend: "Grotto of Bethlehem". The other, the cross decorated with a flowered branch, legend in the lower part […] of the flagellation. The two works are made of rolled gilt paper fixed (called paperolles) on a bright red fabric and embellished with multicolored beads in imitation of precious stones (two loose beads on the lower part of the chalice, indicated by two arrows on a photo of detail), they remain in the composition. Framing of good quality as a whole: Frames in molded wood and gilded with pale gold, dimensions at sight: 8 cm X 11 cm approximately. Under glass and oval views with a gilt edge in mats in beige embossed paper with floral decoration. Each back in beige paper is sealed with a ribbon held by original seals (decoration on the coat of arms with indecipherable inscriptions) in red wax. Normal wear of the frames, very few defects.
