Exceptional buffet two bodies in solid mahogany from Santo Domingo. It is distinguished by its quality of manufacture and its construction typical of the North of France. (Dunkirk and its region) It is topped with a trefoil cornice constituting a single element with the ceiling, coming to top the buffet. The upper part decorated with a shell and acanthus leaves on the upper crossbar opens with two leaves. they are divided into two parts separated by a molded crossbar carved with acanthus and palm leaves. The opening of the doors reveals a molded interior composed of three fretted and hollowed shelves to receive dishes and plates. The lower part opens with two leaves, the top of the doors with a policeman's hat, the flat panels assembled in a groove in the uprights and crosspieces. The rounded uprights are molded projecting and extend to the ground, a low cornice with rounded corners covers the sideboard. The doors are fixed by brass mortice plugs and receive small cut-out brass keyholes. Locks and iron bolts are original. Very good condition for this rare presentation buffet, probably commissioned by a wealthy shipowner. In view of its construction elements, we can date it to the second third of the 18th century for work from Dunkirk and the region of northern France.
